Happy 61st Birthday Young Marines!!! Today’s event was made possible thanks to the Vista Elks Lodge 1968 allowing us to use their outdoor dining area! ... NSDYM Adjutant coordinated an early morning setup and a good time was shared for those that were able to make it. With a shortened version of a normal Young Marines Birthday ball ceremony we shared a special message from the National Executive Director, Col. Bill Davis (USMC Ret.) along with the reading of the birthday traditions observed by all Young Marines. Two cakes were provided by our newest AV’s Mr & Mrs Zoutis and Mr & Mrs Whalen!! The first piece of cake is given to the guest of honor: Division 6 Commander, Mrs. Leigh Dick. The second piece given to the oldest Young Marine present: 2020 Division 6 YMOY, YM/SgtMaj Luke Smith who passed the cake to the youngest Young Marine present, YM/Pvt Molina Zoutis. This signifies the passing of experience and knowledge from the old to the young in the program. The third piece given to the ceremony commander, further emphasizing the fact that we care for our Young Marines before we look to our own needs. Before concluding, each NSD Young Marine present received their 4th Quarter Awards. Notable awards: YM/PFC DeLeon for YM Achievement for 69 hours of DDR this year. YM/PFC Lovison for Salesman of the Year for selling over 350 meat sticks. YM/LCpl Faulkner as Basic Young Marine of the Year YM/Cpl Whalen as Junior Young Maine of the Year YM/SSgt Loveless as Senior Young Marine of the Year - Officially announcing YM/Cpl Whalen as North San Diego’s Young Marine of the Year!! Semper Fidelis.

Members and friends. With the lodge shut down it is more important than ever to send in you dues! We have created a fund called "keep the lights on" Either call the lodge secretary or mail in your dues and if you can a little extra for the fund! We will be completing the carpet in the game room and the planking in the Veterans room and office area during the shut down.
