Please drive slow when you're visiting the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary! River otters regularly cross I Street and the streets surrounding the marsh, so it's important to slow down to keep them safe! If you're lucky enough to spot a river otter at the marsh, you can report the sighting to the HSU River Otter Citizen Science Project, who are working locally to promote clean water and healthy habitats where otters live & play! To report an otter sighting, email [email protected] or call 707-826-3439. Be sure to include the number of otters or otter pups seen, their behavior, location and the date & time you spotted them! You can also report your sighting here on Facebook at HSU River Otter Citizen Science Project.
