Arcata's playgrounds, picnic tables and play structures remain closed to protect the health and safety of the community, but City parks and tails remain open! Hey birders! Don't miss the Godwit Days Spring Migration Bird Festival's County Health-approved, "mini" Fall Preview birding event! There are two outdoor birding field trips planned on Saturday, September 26 & Sunday, September 27, and space is very limited. Please drive slow when you're visiting the Arcata Marsh & Wildlife Sanctuary! River otters regularly cross I Street and the streets surrounding the marsh, so it's important to slow down to keep them safe! If you're lucky enough to spot a river otter at the marsh, you can report the sighting to the HSU River Otter Citizen Science Project, who are working locally to promote clean water and healthy habitats where otters live & play! To report an otter sighting, email [email protected] or call 707-826-3439. Be sure to include the number of otters or otter pups seen, their behavior, location and the date & time you spotted them!
