Over the weekend, Explorer Post 480 competed in the Central Coast Law Enforcement Explorer Competition in San Miguel. Here are the results: 1st Place DUI Stop 1st Place Vehicle Search 1st Place Explorer Ride-Along... 1st Place 10 Person Tug of War 2nd Pace Active Shooter 5th Place Active Shooter (second team) 5th Place Crisis Negotiations 5th Place Written Examination Of the nine explorers who traveled, four of them were competing in their first competition. Not bad, eh?

Congratulations to Albert Viramontes who was promoted from the rank of Explorer Lieutenant to Explorer Captain. Albert has proven to be both an asset to the CHP Explorer Program as well as the community of Tulare County. Congratulations, Captain!

The Visalia Area CHP Explorer Post had the opportunity to travel to the 2017 Central Coast Law Enforcement Explorer Competition in San Miguel this past weekend. These Explorers put in countless hours to prepare, and their hard work paid off. The Post earned 13 top-five finishes for various team and individual events, and brought home the 3rd Place Overall trophy. A big thank you goes out to the San Luis Obispo Sheriff Department and all the volunteers who helped put together a great weekend!
