THE REAL DEAL Why Prop 15 may not be what you think I hope you’re all enjoying the extra hour today! I’m sure the last thing you want to do with your 60 bonus minutes is to think about ballot measures, but there’s one real estate related one in particular I’d like to discuss because it scares me a lot and that’s Prop 15.... There are three real estate related ballot measures: Prop 15: The California Schools and Local Community Funding Act of 2020 Prop 19: Property Tax Transfers, Exemptions, and Revenue for Wildfire Agencies and Counties Prop 21: The Rental Affordability Act . The first two listed above, Prop 15 and Prop 19 are BOTH about property tax even though it’s not clear in the Prop 15 name. (sneaky right who wouldn’t want to help schools?) . Of the three Propositions above, Prop 15 concerns me most as it changes the property tax protections put in place in 1978 by the beloved Prop 13.
