Ventura Water and City of Ventura Parks and Recreation have partnered to re-purpose an estimated 200,000 gallons of water during the annual mainline flushing program! Water main flushing is an important maintenance process that cleans out sediment and corrosion that adheres to pipes over time. In total, the City of Ventura will be flushing at approximately 200 locations where water mains end and pose water quality challenges. Rather than allowing water to go to waste, i...t will be collected in the City’s Urban Forestry truck used to irrigate grass and trees at Arroyo Verde Park, Camino Real Park, Barranca Vista, Chumash Park, Hobart Park, and Community Park. #recycle #reuse #savewater

On October 5 through October 9, Ventura Water will be performing geotechnical studies at Marina Park to gather data and information that will be critical for permitting and designing an ocean outfall, as part of the VenturaWaterPure Project. The park will remain open and accessible to the public. The work includes borings and soil tests that will be conducted at Marina Park and the end of the cul-de-sac on Greenock Lane. The study will be used to gather soil samples, test so...il properties, and categorize the soil profile along the pipeline alignment. Neighboring residents have been notified. Background: The City of Ventura is pursuing VenturaWaterPure, a potable reuse project that will recover, treat, and reuse water that is currently discharged into the Santa Clara River Estuary. The project will allow the City to meet legal and regulatory requirements, improve water quality, and secure a new local source of drinking water. A new ocean outfall is a critical component of VenturaWaterPure Project. It is anticipated that the construction of the outfall will take place in 2024.
