Dear VCS Community, It's critical that we are prepared to begin the school year safely and successfully! Not only did the recent fire force us to cancel staff preparations for the start of school, but many staff have been evacuated who have critical infrastructure roles. As a result, we have designed a tentative plan to begin school for the first day for all students EE-12th grade on Thursday, August 27th. Thursday (8/27) and Friday (8/28) will follow a minimum day schedule f...or K-12 students. Early Education will be open regular hours on both days (for parents who still need a meeting with the ECE Director or a visit with their child’s teacher, expect a call on Monday to reschedule for early next week). As mentioned, this is a tentative schedule. If developments from the fire necessitate a change, we may delay the start of school to, at the latest, Monday, August 31st. Our MS / HS orientation for new families, 6th grade students, and 9th grade students, is tentatively rescheduled for Wednesday, 8/26 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. Phase 3 distance learning families will have a separate orientation on Wednesday, 8/26 from 1:30pm to 3:00pm. We will be providing additional communication with all other families on how they'll get the information they and their families will need for the start of the school year. Our elementary teachers will record a Back to School Night presentation for families and send this on the evening of Monday, 8/24. Elementary Meet and Greet has been rescheduled for Tuesday, 8/25, from 10:00am to 12:00pm. We will be messaging additional details on these events to all K-12 families. Stay safe!
