Bring your best homemade gingerbread houses to the "Gingerbread Holiday" at the Old Sacramento Schoolhouse Museum Now through December 21. Winners will be pic...ked and announced December 13. The annual Gingerbread Holiday is happening again at the charming and nostalgic Old Sacramento Schoolhouse. Everyone is encouraged to bring a hand-made gingerbread house to display for visitors to enjoy. Entries will be judged and winners announced on Friday, 12/13. The display continues until December 21 when entries will be returned to their bakers or donated to local children’s homes and hospitals. The California International Marathon takes place on Sunday, December 8th. The marathon will begin promptly at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2019, near the Folsom Dam in Folsom. The scenic 26-mile, 385-yard course runs from Folsom Dam to the State Capitol in Sacramento. Capitol Mall between 8th St and 9th St will be closed beginning at 8:00am on Friday, 12/6 until 5:00pm on Sunday, 12/8.

It’s a big week in Old Sacramento, and we can’t wait to see you! We’ve added some extra Underground Tours today and Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Admission to the Sacr...amento History Museum is included with your tour ticket. The Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony & Macy’s Theatre of Lights are scheduled for Wednesday, November 27th, with pre-show entertainment beginning at 5 PM, the Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 PM, and the first Macy’s Theatre of Lights performance immediately following. (Please note, the ceremony will require the closure of Front Street between J St. and L St. as well as the closure of K St. between Front St. and 2nd St. beginning at 3 PM.
