Wow! We have so many adoption photos to share with you on this #HappyTailTuesday, including Mozzy’s. He was the cute kitty we featured in our last post and was adopted on that day! If you’re looking to adopt, please visit our website at valleyanimal.org to take a look at all of the animals we have available for adoption. We can’t wait to schedule your private meet-and-greet!

#FelineFriday: Meet Mozzy (23750), a 6-year-old domestic longhair who loves long naps and attention! We rescued Mozzy from local animal control agencies early December of last year after Mozzy’s owner surrendered him. When we took Mozzy in, we couldn’t help noticing that his mouth was infected, causing Mozzy a lot of pain. Our wonderful medical care team scheduled Mozzy a dental exam, and you won’t believe what we found embedded in his mouth! FOXTAILS! We’re happy to report that despite having a few extractions, Mozzy is still able to consume dry food. Mozzy was very brave and is now ready for adoption! https://www.petfinder.com//fr/valley-animal-center-ca229/

#AdoptASeniorPetMonth: Teal is a beautiful tortoiseshell-colored cat who’s got a mind of her own. She’s seven years old, has been with us since May 2014, and is often overlooked because she’s generally lounging in her own space. Teal is also very selective and would prefer to have a home where there are no other animals. Teal's adoption fee is only $90 and includes spay, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchip ID. To meet Teal, simply visit her any day from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

#AdoptASeniorPetMonth: Simon says, Please sponsor me! Simon is nine years old and was surrendered to us in August after his owner passed away. He’s a very social cat who’ll cuddle and purr with you for days if you’d let him. Simon is missing his tail but that doesn’t bother him one bit. Although he’s not available for adoption just yet, Simon can be sponsored for as little as $10 a month. Simply complete the form found in the following link: https://valleyanimal.org/sponsor/

#NationalCanineLymphomaAwarenessDay: Did you know that canine lymphoma is similar to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in people? It’s true. What we do know, wrote American Kennel Club Author Anna Burke, is that dogs share our environment, and so they are exposed to many of the same cancer-causing environmental factors as we are, including toxic substances like phenoxyacetic acid herbicides and magnetic field exposure. To learn more about canine lymphoma, its symptoms, diagnosis and treatment, click on the link below.

#Thanksgiving2020: We know how hard 2020 has been and even though it may not be over just yet, we want to take a moment to thank you for your continued love and support. As a nonprofit organization, we don’t receive any government funds. We operate solely on funds provided by you, our loyal supporters. While we also had our share of ruff days, we never failed to strive to unite cats and dogs with loving people. That concept alone has kept us strong and going. Who or what has been motivating you all year?

According to our cat care supervisor, Maritza, it may take a long time for seniors to find loving homes because people are generally looking for a young and fun pet to take home. There’s a misconception that adopting a senior means adopting a cat with health issues, Maritza said. Most of the time, it’s just not true. Some of these cats and dogs will be fine all their lives. At Valley Animal Center, we have a number of senior cats and dogs that are available for adoption. To take a look at some of them, visit us today at valleyanimal.org.
