On this weekend last year, we were hosting Tennis on Campus Sectionals! TOC Sectionals is one of our most energetic and spirited events each year, and we look forward to the time when we will be hosting it once again!

The Manitou Foundation and the Carpinteria Unified School District will be rebuilding Summerland Elementary School’s tennis courts! USTA SoCal is proud to be working with them to help bring the students great tennis programming for years to come! #CommunityTennis

Legends are not born, they are created Los Angeles native Jimmie McDaniel was a champion of the ATA circuit and won his first four titles in 1939. McDaniel went on to play for Xavier University, but segregation meant he was only allowed to play against other Black players, and he could not participate in the NCAA Championships. A few years later in 1940, McDaniel made headlines for playing in an exhibition match against Don Budge, a US Open Champion, who declared that McDa...niel could easily make it in the world Top 10. Budge v. McDaniel was the first time a white player and a Black player met in a top-level tennis match, an earth-shaking event for sports in 1940. The @ITA_Tennis rankings have been released, and SoCal really held its own. Congratulations to USC's Men's Tennis Team, USC's’ Daniel Cukierman, and USC’s Doubles Team of Riley Smith and Daniel Cukierman, all for holding the No. 1 spots. While we didn't get the full BNP experience in 2020, we're thankful that we got to have some fun on the courts during Kids Day! The @csub_tennisclub and many other volunteers helped us coach and rally with 1,500 SoCal kids in #TennisParadise!

In 2020 we created a new event which is part of our Signature Series! The first ever Super Sectionals was one for the books... We combined 3 stellar tournaments to make one super event. Super Sectionals offered Adult Age, NTRP, Wheelchair and Family Division match play.

In February, we hosted Tennis on Campus Sectionals where 32 teams from 17 Southern California colleges gathered at the Great Park in Irvine to compete for five spots at Nationals. On the courts, the students were all business. Off the courts, indelible memories were made hanging with teammates and enjoying the collegial atmosphere.

You win, you’re in. It’s that simple today at Barnes Tennis Center, where SoCal’s premier juniors converge in the semifinals of the 118th #JuniorSectionals. Top 18s seeds Sebastian Gorzny and Rebecca Lynn headline a stellar schedule of matches to determine who will play for a Sectional title on Sunday.

It's the finals weekend of #JuniorSectionals, the competition and the tennis are hard to beat.
