On Tuesday, I sent a message to the entire Coast Guard workforce. The Coast Guard's strength resides in our Core Values- Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty. ...We are stronger when we stand together. Today we must recognize that we have shipmates that are angry, scared, and weary; shipmates who may feel as a nation we haven't fully availed the American Dream of equal opportunity and the unalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness to all amongst us. I encourage you to take a moment and read the full text. #StrongerTogether

Don't forget to label your kayaks, canoes, and paddlecraft with an "IF FOUND" sticker. This helps our rescue crews determine whether a boater is actually in distress or if the vessel has broken free of its mooring or blown away. #NSBW #PaddleSmart #WearIt #BoatResponsibly

Santa Barbara County firefighters practiced oil spill containment at Goleta Beach today. The training was provided by OSPR and the U.S. Coast Guard Santa Barbar...a, and showcased best practices for using the local equipment trailers granted by OSPR. The trailers are staged along the coast for the initial response to a spill. The Santa Barbara Waterfront received one in 2010, and Santa Barbara County received two trailers in 2014. See more
