The Sacramento Ronald McDonald House has served more than 17,000 families since opening its doors in 1998. Its mission is to help children and their families by providing an atmosphere where families can rest, reflect, and find mutual support from other families facing similar struggles. This home-away-from-home provides affordable, temporary housing to families who must travel to the Sacramento area to receive medical treatment for their seriously ill or injured child at any... of the area hospitals. BP was the structural engineer on the new expansion built here in 2015. Every second and fourth Thursday of the month, the Sacramento Ronald McDonald House provides dinner for its guest families. Always looking for their next opportunity to provide service in the community, Barrish Pelham staff chose to expand their connection to the local House by sponsoring and serving a taco-themed dinner to the families on April 26th. "As a parent myself, I felt grateful for the opportunity to provide a warm meal and a smiling face to the parents as they arrived back from the hospital. Barrish Pelham loves supporting future engineers! Whether they are in high school or college, BP is involved in helping students move forward to entering the A/E/C industry. For the past 10, BP staff has served as engineering mentors in the SRBX CREATE mentoring program. We love working with high school students to inspire them to pursue careers that create the built environment. This year, engineers Michael Jensen and Matt Mlakar worked with student teams from Sacramento ...Charter High School and River City High School on the adaptive reuse of the old paint shop at the Railyards. Between their two teams, five students were awarded CREATE college scholarships, and Matt's team won the award for Best Presentation! On the college level, BP is involved with engineering students at Sacramento State, UC Davis, and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. At Cal Poly we are sponsoring the Order of the Engineer and the ARCE (Architectural Engineering, College of Architecture) programs. The Order of the Engineer was started in 1970 and emphasizes pride, responsibility to the public, and ethics in the engineering profession. BP's sponsorship of various ARCE programs assists students in having a richer academic experience in preparation for their professional life.

BARRISH PELHAM PROJECTS CONTRIBUTE TO THE LOCAL COMMUNITY C.K. McClatchy High School Auditorium and Ancillary Buildings Being on the State’s list of historical structures meant special care was required in providing structural design for the renovated, 800-seat, C.K. McClatchy High School auditorium. Working with Rainforth Grau Architects and Clark & Sullivan, we also provided structural design for the surrounding buildings that house the school’s Visual and Performing Arts ...(VAPA) program. The project added new theater elements such as catwalks and a tension grid to the historic structure. The VAPA gala held January 20th showed off a beautiful and successful project all the way around! One Community Medical/Dental Facility The grand opening for the tenant improvement of the One Community Medical/Dental facility in Sacramento took place January 23rd. Their new 31,500sf facility was gutted, remodeled, and expanded in order to allow this nonprofit organization to continue their focus on improving physical and mental health services, treating HIV cases, and providing medical and dental services to everyone regardless of their ability to pay. Working with Hibser Yamauchi Architects and Triamid Construction, we performed structural analysis on the existing building to convert it into a beautiful new facility meeting all OSHPD requirements for medical clinics.

SRBX has named their new event center after Barrish Pelham Consulting Engineers! A ceremony acknowledging the new Barrish Pelham Events Center was held during the SRBX Installation Reception held January 11th. SRBX moved into their new space on Elvas Ave. at the end of 2017. The association was in need of more meeting space for use by its members, and for providing additional safety training for its contractor members as well as transitioning from a paper-based organization to an electronic one through the CALBX Online Plan Room. This required a different program and special layout from the previous T Street location. The new office now allows the event center to be used by its members for retreats, seminars, business meetings, etc. Please stop by and check out the new SRBX Building and Barrish Pelham Event Center.
