They may have once owned a home that ended up in foreclosure so their credit is ruined. Then they’re renting and they get an eviction notice and have unpaid utility bills. It’s a downward spiral that it is difficult to come back from.
Not everyone experiencing homelessness suffers from behavioral health issues or a substance disorder. Some families live in vehicles, motels, and friends homes - not necessarily on the streets. Urban Housing Solutions is designed to help individuals and families reintegrate back into rental housing.

Live today at 1:30 p.m. KCET will be discussing homelessness in SoCal. UHS provides workshops and seminars to assist at-risk, low income, and persons experiencing homelessness successfully apply for rental property housing and development into model tenants. UHS's program plan is for the betterment of landlord-tenant relations and the entire community.
The project has been in the works for the past six years, and it will take another five years for completion. More affordable housing is on the way as agencies work collaboratively to assist persons experiencing homelessness.
