500 pairs of new women’s underwear and 60 new sports bras needed for homeless women in SF by 9/30! Dear Friends, Urban Angels SF volunteers are supporting homeless women who are victims of sexual abuse, prostitution and sex trafficking in SF by donating 500 pairs of new women's underwear (bikini briefs or hipster panties) and 60 new sports bras by the end of September. Everything must be new; not used. ... We have been asked to provide new bikini briefs or hipster panties; 100 pairs of small, 100 pairs of medium, 100 pairs of large, 100 pairs of x-large, and 100 pairs of xx-large. We have also been asked to provide sports bras; 15 small, 15 medium, 15 large, 15 x-large and 15 xx-large. Please drop off your donations at the UASF office in the Diamond Heights Shopping Center or have them delivered (by Amazon?) to our office. The address is below. Alternatively, send your check payable to UASF to our office or drop it off and we will use it to buy the items. Please put "Underwear & Bra Program" in the memo part of your check. 10 days ago, Urban Angels SF put out a call for 1,000 pairs of new socks or used socks in good to excellent condition by Friday 8/31 to hand out to our unhoused neighbors living on the streets of SF. You responded with gusto. Anonymous donors left bags and boxes of socks at the front door of the Urban Angels SF office every day for the last 10 days. Others generously purchase their socks on line and had them delivered to our office. I am happy as a pig in mud to announce t...hat today that you all smashed through the 1,000 pair goal with final donations that put the total number of socks donated at 1,155!! And you did it with 3 days to spare. Congratulations NextDoor neighbors. You really care about your community and you proved it this time with your amazing generosity. School Supplies for Homeless Children is on the home stretch!! These are the boxes of school supplies and 200 sturdy backpacks Urban Angels SF will be donating to the elementary age school children living in SF homeless shelters. On August 8, from 10 am to noon Urban Angels SF volunteers will be showing up at the UASF office in the Diamond Heights Shopping Center to fill the backpacks with the requested school supplies. We will do this outside on the deck in front of our of...fice for safety reasons. If you want to be part of this fun and rewarding work, let me know. My contact info is below. Masks are required. From noon to 2 pm, each of 6 UASF drivers will deliver backpacks to a specific homeless shelter where homeless elementary school children are living. Our volunteer will be met by a representative of the shelter to receive the backpacks and school supplies and later hand them out to the children. Last year the handwritten notes from the happy children thanking us for their new backpacks and school supplies were truly heart-warming. Such a small donation making a huge positive impact for children born into a tough situation. FYI, the purchase of the backpacks and school supplies cost Urban Angels SF $4,560.
