TGIF! Here is a #featurefriday with one of our affiliates, Marco! A little bit about Marco: Q: If you could have one wish what would it be? A: "I wish that the world could have transparency with itself once."... Q: Favorite thing to do in your spare time? A: "I enjoy sitting still mostly. However, utilizing my creativity in as many ways as possible is usually what I end up doing. Creating visual art is my go to!" Q: Who is your biggest inspiration? A: "My Mother is my biggest inspiration. She is such a strong stoic woman with most gentle spirit I know. She’s my hero and she feeds me from time to time!! Lol " Q: What is something that motivates you to keep going? A: "Almost everyday I learn of an individual or organization that is true in the fight to help end HIV/AIDS. Unfortunately also in those realms, I see those are not true fighters. I must say they are BOTH my greatest motivation." Q: What made you want to become an affiliate for Until There's A Cure? A: "I only align myself with people and organizations that match my ethical and moral compass, so joining UTAC was like joining a family. Family is suppose to stick together no matter what!! So UTAC is stuck with me!!" We are so grateful to have Marco on our team!If you are someone that is passionate about the fight against HIV/AIDS and want to become a part of our affiliate team please visit: https://www.until.org/socialmeidaaffilate-442623.html

Last time we covered WHY it is important to get tested for HIV - but WHERE can you get tested for HIV You can get an HIV test at many places: -Your health care provider’s office -Health clinics or community health centers... -STD or sexual health clinics -Your local health department -Family planning clinics -VA medical centers -Substance abuse prevention or treatment programs -Many pharmacies and some community-based organizations also offer HIV testing. HIV testing is covered by health insurance without a co-pay, as required by the Affordable Care Act. If you do not have health insurance, some testing sites may offer free tests. These places can connect you to HIV care and treatment if you test positive or can discuss the best HIV prevention options for you if you test negative. Is self testing an option Yes! HIV self-testing allows people to take an HIV test and find out their result in their own home or other private location. You can buy a self-test kit at a pharmacy or online, or your health care provider may be able to order one for you. Some health departments or community-based organizations also provide self-test kits for free. So.. #sayyestothetest To find your nearest HIV testing center visit: https://locator.hiv.gov/ Source: https://www.hiv.gov/hiv-basics/ Graphic Created by: @jessica.zang
