Just wanted to share this wonderful photo of a Golden Eagle that was seen on the east abutment road at the District's Santa Felicia Dam. Photo was taken by UWCD's Associate Engineer Adrian Quiroz on September 1, 2020
Thank you Charlotte Holifield for taking the time to present the District's Transparency Certificate of Excellence. This distinction was truly a team effort, with contributions from the full Board and all United staffers. We are all very proud of the recognition and hope to be inviting you back soon for the presentation of the District of Distinction certification!
#USWaterAlliance reminds us..."We wanted to take a moment before the long Labor Day weekend to acknowledge the incredibly valuable contributions of water workers. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many industries have found that they can shift to working remotely or from home. But for so many of our water workers, going remote is not an option. They still have to show up on construction sites and at the water treatment plant to provide their communities with an essential servic...e, and none of us should take that commitment for granted. So for Labor Day this year, we worked with our Value of Water Campaign supporters to create a simple video that highlights and thanks our essential water workers. They’re out there on the front lines, from coast to coast, keeping us all safe and healthy." #ValueWater @TheValueOfWater https://www.youtube.com/watch
The United team is "all in" on sediment management at the Freeman Diversion -- Associate Environmental Scientist Randall McInvale, Environmental Scientist Evan Lashly, and field technicians Kat Christensen and Ryan Newkirk.
Lake Piru isopen again!!
Construction begins August 17 on Santa Felicia Dam Safety Improvement Project...
Water release from Santa Felicia Dam, which began August 7 and will continue through early November will benefit basins throughout the District...
Due to the significant increase in corona virus cases over the past few weeks in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, United Water Conservation District is following local and state guidelines for restricting social interaction and is closing the Lake Piru Recreation Area for the foreseeable future. This includes camping, picnicking and all water recreation access.
Every little bit helps...bringing us one step closer to water sustainability.
LAKE PIRU REOPENS JULY 1 !!
Join UWCD and AWA on the morning of June 25 for an update on the projects that will provide regional water sustainability.
John Carman captured this incredible image of the #ElizabethFire last Wednesday from the District's Saticoy desilting basin.
Thank you to all the agencies and personnel working so hard to protect us and to contain the #LimeFire.
Fire fighters have been using Lake Piru as a water source for fighting the #LimeFire as well as a place to stage crews and for crews to take a much needed break from the action. (video and photos by John Carman)
