Folsom Fire Department

Around 3:02 p.m., Folsom Fire Department Battalion Chief 15 was en route to station quarters and saw smoke in the area. Upon confirmation of active fire, a full residential structure assignment was started. Folsom Engine 39 was the first to arrive and quickly performed a primary and secondary search of the structure. An aggressive fire attack was initiated with knockdown reported at 3:26 p.m. Due to the extent of the fire, heavy smoke damage was present. The residents were not home at the time of the fire, but firefighters were able to rescue a dog, provide supplemental oxygen, and reunite her with her owners. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Shortly after 2:36 p.m. Folsom Fire, along with Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, responded to reports of smoke coming from the second story of a home on the 500 block of Sutter Street. Firefighters arrived to find the residents evacuated and assisted in safely removing a large tortoise from the smokey conditions. The small fire was contained to a single room. No injuries were reported.

Engine35’s crew helped a mama duck get her seven babies out of a storm drain early this morning!

Every year during the second week of April, telecommunications personnel in the public safety community, are honored. This week-long event, initially set up in 1981 by Patricia Anderson of the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office in California, is a time to celebrate and thank those who dedicate their lives to serving the public.
