In regards to the statement made by the USM organization about the prolonged incidents of sexual assault and violence, the SoCal SSA’s stand in solidarity in condemning the dismissal of a sincere apology. The SoCal SSA community feels it is unacceptable for USM to disregard and invalidate survivor trauma through a vague apology. The lack of transparency and communication by USM with SSA’s shows inconsistency with their principles and values presented through events. We hope that the statement above portrays our position and we hope to make a change. Thank you.

It has been 3 long years since Jagtar Singh Johal was kidnapped by the Punjab Police on the behest of the government of India. This coming weekend will mark 1100 days of Jaggi’s detainment and torture. All of this because he dared to raise awareness about 1984 and the atrocities committed against Sikhs by the Indian State. They tried to silence Jaggi, but did not realize they would awaken thousands of more Jaggis. In that spirit, Jakara Movement, United Sikh Movementand Cali...fornia Sikh Youth Alliance, are bringing together the USA community to hear directly from Jaggi’s brother Gurpreet Singh Johal. We also want to invite YOU and all of your family to join us. It is imperative we know what is happening to those who stand for us. Jaggi’s seva behind the scenes of 1984 awareness is invaluable. So much of the youth today know what they know about our shaheeds because of Jaggi’s NeverForget1984 website. He spent years translating Punjabi magazines and newspaper articles to English for his website. The time has come for all of us to stand up for him. Join us this coming Sunday on Zoom at 1 pm. Sunday, November 8th, 1:00 PM PST Zoom ID: 839 3535 0396 Passcode: 940085

The Sikh ideology has been under siege for the past five and a half centuries of its existence. It's proponents were persecuted becausethey called for uprooting tyranny, establishing justice, and standing for righteousness. The Indian army led invasion of the sanctum sanctorum of Sikhs, Sri Darbar Sahib, in June 1984, was a defining moment in modern Sikh history, in which countless Sikhs defended their Guru's door while thousands of others lost their lives across Punjab. It c...ollectively brought the Panth together to discuss a new chapter of its sovereignty. The Dastar of the Qaum that was trampled upon in June 1984, was rightfully placed back on its head by three Sant-Sipahis in October of the same year. With the assassination of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, divinely ordained justice had been served for her attack on the House of Guru Nanak and crimes against humanity. Against all odds, Bhai Beant Singh, Bhai Kehar Singh, and Bhai Satwant Singh would all attain martyrdom defending the honor of the Guru-Panth. They would have the privilege of adding their names to a long history of Warrior-Saints. May Guru Sahib bless us with an ounce of the courage that they possesed. : : ' ' : ) ) ) )
