The LRC Student Unit Director has put together the following survey to assess UCSB students’ expectations for services they receive from their campus Legal Resource Center (LRC). It consists of 13 questions and should take only a few minutes to complete. Any UCSB student who has attended UCSB in the past 20 years, regardless of whether they have used LRC services, is invited to take this survey. Your responses are important in considering what services our campus LRC offers. ...Thank you in advance for your time! https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSfJFb2_eyrZccsj5/viewform

Effective July 13, 2020, the LRC is no longer permitted by UCSB to provide legal advice or consultation. We can provide students with legal education and information. If you require legal advice we will need to refer you to other community resources or private attorneys. The meetings will be confidential, but not privileged. This means that if we are served with a subpoena by someone who wants to know what a student told us, we will have to comply. We look forward to being able to continue to support students in this new model. NOTE: this update does not apply to the UC Immigrant Legal Services. That service is separate and still available to students.

Please see the letter attached below and sign the petition at http://chng.it/mn9fXqpk. -------------------------------------------- Text:...Continue reading

UCSB students are at-risk for losing their access to completely privileged legal consultation services from our LRC beginning July 1st, 2020. We as students have the right and standing to protest this change by campus counsel in the proposed job description and how it will affect LRC operations in the future. By signing this petition, you can help advocate on behalf of our student community to prevent the university from getting away with this.
