Introducing the newest student to join us in the SCDN Lab: Rawan AL Judeid! Rawan is a third year student at UCR majoring in Biology. She is interested in pursuing a career in the medical/health field. She joined the SCDN Lab because she saw that it is a perfect fit for her interests. Being a part of this research lab is an amazing opportunity for Rawan to learn more about ASD children, and to be mentored by Dr. Stavropoulos to conduct her own study about ASD children and onl...ine learning. Her favorite thing about the lab is the team. Rawan saw that everyone who is part of the lab is passionate about what they are doing and supportive to one another. Her overall goals for this lab are to learn more about ASD children, what kind of challenges they are facing, and get more exposure in the lab environment for the upcoming studies. To expand on Rawan’s hobbies, she enjoys oil painting and creating big oil painting canvas. Her father taught her the basic techniques when she was ten years old, and ever since then, Rawan fell in love with showing how she sees the world through painting it on a canvas. See more

Presenting an undergraduate profile on Johanna Diaz, one of our Research Assistants: My name is Johanna Diaz and I am currently a second year Neuroscience major! I have been volunteering at the SCDN Lab for a little over a year and I've very much enjoyed my time here! I originally applied to be a Research Assistant here to get some exposure in a lab environment and because of the past studies on children with autism. Now that I've been here a while, I would say that my favorite part about this lab is our interactions with the kiddos, whether it be online or in person, and doing EEG tests! Its very fascinating to see how each individual brain reacts to certain stimuli! During my free time, I love to bake, go on walks, and grab a coffee with a friend.
