Do you like the UCLA Planetarium? You should follow Astronomy on Tap West LA! These events are geared more towards adults and, when we can gather in person, take place in a bar (complete with pub trivia)! Follow their page to get updates on events! https://www.facebook.com/AoTWestLosAngeles
Looking forward to our show tonight! here are the answers to a few FAQs: Q: How can I join in on this show? A: At 7pm PT tonight 8/10, you can see our show on Y...ouTube Live at https://youtu.be/riC_Y6LM03I. This show is NOT in person at the UCLA Planetarium - please stay home and help stop the spread of COVID-19! Q: What is going to happen at the show? A: One of our awesome UCLA grad students, Aidan Gibbs, will be giving a planetarium show (a simulation of the night sky, NOT the real night sky) about meteor showers, telling you how to observe the Perseids this week and more. Q: Do I need tickets / is there a cost? A: No! No tickets needed, and all our events are free. If you want to donate, you can do so if you click on "giving" on our website astro.ucla.edu/planetarium. Q: Why is there so much spam on this event?? A: We don't know, but are trying our best to report and block them on Facebook. Please do not click on the other links from spammers, and if you can, report them as well.
Hi all, as you probably suspected, we're not having any in person events for the foreseeable future in Fall 2020, as the university has moved fully online due to COVID-19. BUT, we're back in virtual format! We're doing a special show on Zoom for the Perseids Meteors Shower, which you can read more about here: https://www.facebook.com/events/939969306515233/
Just a reminder, planetarium shows are cancelled until the end of the quarter due to UCLA's COVID-19 suspension of in-person classes and events.
Hi all, since classes have been moved online due to precautions related to COVID-19, we are also cancelling our planetarium shows. Shows will resume after in person classes resume - currently classes are moved to online through April 10th, so shows should resume after that date. We will post updates on our social media and website as the situation evolves.
