Dr. Bath called herself a science suffragette, a nickname she more than lived up to. Her imagination had no limits as she found ways to make the world better. ...When she noticed racial disparities in eye care, she proposed correcting them through a new discipline, community ophthalmology. When she witnessed the devastation of cataracts, she invented a new device to remove them. When she became the first woman faculty member in her department, she used the opportunity, working hard and eventually becoming the first woman to chair an ophthalmology residency program in the United States.
