Tulare County Fire Department wants to remind everyone as we turn our clocks back this weekend to change your batteries on your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Smoke Detectors are a key part of a home fire escape plan. A working smoke detector will give you early warning so you and your family can get outside quickly. Below are some safety tips:... Install smoke alarms in every bedroom. Test all smoke alarms at least once a month by pressing the test button. Smoke alarms should be on the ceiling or high on the wall. Replace all smoke alarms when they are 10 years old. Remember to also change the battery on the Carbon Monoxide Detector in your house. (Some smoke alarms my have a 10 year battery and are unable to be changed. Please be sure to test them monthly)
