Chlorine. Your pool needs it. Without it, bacteria and algae will soon take your pool from paradise to swamp. Many times pool owners come down to the store and have algae problems. First question we always ask, what is your chlorine level at? 9 times out of 10 the pool owner doesn’t know. How much chlorine do you need? You need to maintain your chlorine ideally at 3ppm (Parts per million), with 2ppm being on the low side and 4ppm being on the higher side. It is bett...er to stay in the upper level especially during the swim season. One pool party or a couple 100-degree days, your chlorine could go from a 3 to a zero. It is recommended to check your chlorine at least a couple times a week to prevent any algae issues. Test kits and test strips are available that allow you to do this easily. If your chlorine starts getting low, adjust it by using granular (powder) or liquid chlorine to raise it back to where it needs to be. See more
