THE SIX TRANSCENDENTAL PERFECTIONS AND THE FLAWS THEY REMOVE. 1) The transcendental perfection of Generosity rids oneself of selfish vested interest 2) The transcendental perfection of Discipline eliminates any complacency with the goal.... 3) The transcendental perfection of forbearance toward profound teachings eliminating any hesitation concerning the true nature of things being free of all conceptual elaborations. 4) The transcendental perfection of diligence, taking delight in giving away one’s possessions; and so eliminating faintheartedness and overcoming one’s greed, and avarice. 5) The transcendental perfection of Meditative stability that is focused one-pointedly on the welfare of others, and so eliminating any covetous attitudes towards one’s possessions, which would interfere with one’s perfection of generosity. 6) The transcendental perfection of sublime intelligence, especially as it concerns the spiritual path, and so eliminating any attitude of avoiding being generous toward others, even if one is oneself impoverished. THE ANTIDOTES TO BE USED FOR HIGHER REALIZATION 1) Understanding the original pure and open, empty and open ended nature of all phenomena and circumstance. 2) Understanding that things ultimately have no subtle or lasting traits. 3) Understanding that ordinary phenomena are unreliable. 4) Realization of the Innate Purity underlying the 3 ‘focal point’ of subject, object, and their interrelationship 5) Supreme Compassion 6) Lack of selfish conceit. 7) Realization of the equalness of all phenomena. Understanding of the ultimate spiritual approach. 9) Understanding the meaning Timeless Eternity 10) Understanding that brings forbearance in the face of the challenge of profound truths 11) Understanding phenomena’s lack of true existence; impermanence and phenomena’s co-dependent existence. 12) Eliminating concepts based on the belief that things truly exist the way they seemingly appear, per se. 13) Understanding The Transitory Collect, the Mind-Body Aggregates , 14) Focusing one’s mind one-pointedly on The True Nature of all phenomena an appearances. 15) Becoming skilled in deep insight 16) Taming ones mind through familiarity with The True Nature of things. Mindfulness in Dzogchen We begin with mindfulness in order to find our way out of the delusion and dualistic fixation that have gone on endlessly in Samsara. Mindfulness, however, could have a definite dualistic connotation. It could be like putting a hook in a piece of meat and holding it steady so that the dog does not run off with it.... There is a subject keeping an eye on the object. There is a more subtle level called watchfulness which is mere noticing, but it is also subtly dualistic. Even subtler than watchfulness is awakeness. That is the point of separating Sem and Rigpa. Sem, the dualistic frame of mind, means involvement with thoughts of either past, present or future. Rigpa simply means the awakened state that is uninvolved in thoughts of the three times. ~ Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche Vajra Speech Shared by Matthew Vagg
