It’s important to know what’s considered a pet emergency, so you know when to seek immediate care. Here are some of the most common. #TuesdayTip - Severe bleeding - Eating toxic substances - Heat stroke... - Severe vomiting/diarrhea - Refusal to drink - Unconsciousness - Choking or difficult breathing - Eye injuries - Seizures - Broken bone - Signs of pain or sudden change in behavior - Straining to urinate If you aren’t sure if you need emergency care, it’s always a good idea to call to ask. "I can't begin to say enough about this place! We brought our girl Lala in yesterday with vomiting and severe, bloody diarrhea. We were seen very quickly by Justin, who was so polite and calm, and he whisked her into the building for evaluation. Not long after, we heard from Dr. Juli White, who is just fantastic! So knowledgeable, honest and friendly, she made us feel immediately like we were in very good hands. Michelle worked with us to make sure we knew all of our financia...l options and tirelessly answered our many questions. Dr. Leonard, who was on duty the next morning, gave us timely updates and her assistant (I'm so sorry I can't remember her name!) was always available when we had questions. I can't remember everyone's names, but everyone who answered the phone was extremely helpful and although they are very busy, they worked hard to make sure someone was available to talk to us when we had questions. Just top notch service and wonderful care for our old girl. Thanks to them, she'll be around a while longer." - Kelly M. See more
Keep your dog from overheating with these tips! #TuesdayTip - Hydrate! Always have fresh, cool water readily available especially when you’re away from home. - Take frequent breaks and don’t play too hard when temperatures are rising. - Consider keeping their hair shorter than usual during the summer.... - Avoid spending time outdoors during the peak heat. - Do NOT leave your dog in the car on hot days, even for short periods of time. - Keep good airflow within your house with a fan or air conditioning. - Signs of overheating include excessive panting, dry and/or pale gums, erratic or rapid pulse, confusion, diarrhea, vomiting, hyperventilation, increased salivation. If you think your pet is overheated, immediately move them to a cooler area and contact your veterinarian. Stay safe this summer! And remember, we're here for you 24/7 if you need us!

Be prepared! Here are some fire safety tips for pet owners. #TuesdayTip - Include your pet in a household emergency plan. - Create emergency pet supply bags with food, water, bowl, leash/carrier. - Know where your pet hides.... - If you kennel your pet, keep it near an entrance. - During a fire if you can’t find your pet quickly, you should still exit your home. Open the doors and call for your pet to exit. Immediately inform trained responders to have them search inside. - If your pet has been exposed to smoke or fire, contact your veterinarian. If you aren’t already, set a routine to brush your dog’s teeth. #TuesdayTip - Get a toothbrush specifically made for dogs. - Use dog toothpaste, never use human toothpaste. - If your dog isn’t used to this process, ease them into it slowly and don’t force it. Start by just rubbing their gums and having them taste test the toothpaste. ... - When brushing use a circular motion on the teeth and gums. - Always keep it positive with encouraging words and a treat at the end. - Stock up on chews and treats approved by your veterinarian that help reduce plaque buildup. 11730 Ventura Blvd, Studio City - 818-760-3882 - truecareforpets.com

Happy to be here and ready to help. Thank you for the kind words! These stories are what fuel us. https://www.yelp.com/biz/truecare-for-pets-studio-city
Bailey recently visited us after not feeling like herself for a couple days. We discovered she had an overgrown seed stuck in her small intestine. After careful monitoring with our ultrasound equipment and a little help from IV fluids, Bailey digested everything safely! We loved taking care of her and miss those adorable big puppy eyes. https://www.instagram.com/p/CF0507vJ8xy/
