Triton Museum of Art 09.07.2021

Hello All, your friendly Executive Director Preston here, enjoying a relaxing Father’s Day and catching up on a little reading which reminds me the Triton M...useum of Art’s year-long monthly book club, The Stories of Art begins on July 7, 2021, 9:00-10:00 a.m. We invite you to read selected novels about art or famous artists before we meet, and then join us on the first Wednesday morning of each month, for an art history presentation about that month’s novel, the portrayed artist, and related art, as presented by your friendly Executive Director me. Learn how the novels do or don’t comport to the actual history of its subject, and hear more about the artwork and the artists’ times in which they were created. Our first book club art history presentation will be about My Name Is Red by Turkish writer, Orhan Pamuk, recipient of the 2006 Nobel Prize in Literature. The novel revolves around miniaturist artists in the Ottoman Empire of 1591. Admission to the monthly book club art history lectures is free for Triton Members ($5 donation requested for non-members), and all are welcome, WHETHER YOU HAVE ACTUALLY READ THE BOOK OR NOT. Coffee and pastries will be served, so please order your first book(s) of the series, get your read on, and you will be set for our first gathering on July 7. We are excited to read with you! For a complete list of the books we will read over the next 12 months, go to our website.

Hello All, your friendly Executive Director Preston here, and I am already looking forward to next weekend, June 26 and 27, when the Triton Museum of Art will h...ost its first outdoor Chalk Art Festival. After a year of sheltering in place and experiencing the museum through social media, we can now once more enjoy a safe, social-distancing conducive, event to celebrate art. Please join us in the Triton Sculpture Garden directly behind the museum to watch 16 artists create some amazing works in chalk. Stroll the park, enjoy a cold drink, and re-connect with the Triton family. Kids (and adults) can try their hand at their own chalk art on supplies provided at our art activity station. And don't forget to visit inside the museum, where, in addition to the wonderful exhibitions, the participating chalk artists will have works displayed which are for sale to benefit the Triton Museum of Art's exhibition and education programs. I hope to see you there!

Hello all, your friendly Executive Director Preston here. The Triton Museum of Art was founded in 1965 by attorney, rancher, and philanthropist Robert Morgan, Sr. Now, nearly 55 years later, his grandson Cory Morgan serves on the Triton Board of Trustees. And as if that isn't cool enough, Cory was just promoted to the rank of Lieutenant at the Santa Clara Police Department. Congratulations Lt. Morgan! Today my lovely bride Kay and I delivered a cake she baked to him and his fellow officers. In this time of much -- often justified -- attention on those who are sworn to protect us, the officers of SCPD represent all that is right about the police. We are so grateful to them and all they do to keep our community safe!!!

Hello all, your friendly Executive Director Preston here, with great news about the Triton Museum of Art ... our long hibernation is OVER!!! With recent changes in the City's re-opening status as designated by the State and County, we are thrilled to be able to once again open our doors to you. It has been more than six months since we began our stay-at-home status, but now we can once more share with you some amazing art and a quiet place to stroll, contemplate, learn, and most importantly ... just get out of the house. Starting tomorrow, September 19, at 11:00 a.m. our doors will re-open. We do ask that all visitors wear masks that cover both mouth and nose at all times, and that everyone maintain proper social distancing. I hope to see you there.
