Cheryl Myrtle Heuer May 18, 1948 - September 14, 2020 Our dear sister in Christ, Cheryl Heuer, died suddenly this past Monday after a slow decline that began a few months back when she fell and broke her leg. Cheryl was an active member of TLC, serving us and the community in many capacities, including as Council President over the last two years. Cheryl also loved worship and music and was an integral part of our worship planning here at TLC. She is survived by her sister, J...oni, nephews, Gabriel and Isaiah, cousins, many friends and a large church "family" community beyond Trinity that includes Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley where she worked until her retirement. Cheryl joins generations of the Communion of Saints who have completed their lives on earth and now know the fullness of God's gift of love and life eternal. A virtual Memorial Service / Celebration of Life is being planned for 1 pm on October 24th. Condolences may be sent to Cheryl's sister, Joni Ripley, at: 1170 Geranium Avenue East St. Paul, MN 55106

Living into the Face of Change with God at Our Side Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ, What a time in which we are living! Each day new information on the coronavirus seems to chart a more finely-tuned response as we all strive to be safe and healthy in its midst. Last night, I shared with you ways in which we at Trinity were taking this information seriously and changing some of our common worship practices. That was before the California and Alameda County Departments of ...Health updated their recommendations to include that gatherings for people at high risk of complications from COVID-19 should be limited to a maximum of 10 people. Taking this recommendation seriously, as well as our mandate from Christ to love one another to care for one another earlier this evening, Trinity’s Council joined with many other of our congregations by voting unanimously to suspend through the month of March all church worship services and other activities in which we at Trinity gather. This decision was not made lightly, but with the utmost care and concern for each of us. Our Council realizes that it is at times like this we really need each other we really need church and, so, they will continue to monitor the situation and respond appropriately. They will start by calling everyone in the Church Directory on Saturday to check-in and to make sure everyone is aware of the cancellation of Sunday Worship. We are also investigating ways of using technology to aid in providing support, spiritual care, and devotional / reflective moments with one another. This will be a challenge as many of us are not tech-savvy, but we’ll figure something out together. And we know that with challenge comes opportunity! So, I ask each of us to keep an open mind and an open heart in the days ahead, as we maneuver through this time. I also invite you to check in with one another through phone calls, email, cards, and notes. And to pray unceasingly! I continue to be available for pastoral concerns and care. Call me at 415-652-0427 or email me at [email protected]. In the coming week, I will also be checking in with folks throughout the congregation to see how you are faring and to provide support and care. In addition, early next week I hope to provide devotional resources for us. I don’t yet have a sense of what that looks like, but we’ll soon know. Finally, as is my practice, each morning I pray through our Church Directory, so know I will be praying for you. As I said earlier, we are in the midst of a challenge and with challenge comes opportunity. This certainly is a time of caution and precaution, but let it not become for you a time of fear. We, as God’s faithful, know that we are not in this alone, but that God journeys with us, encouraging us, guiding us, and blessing us. As we continue on a different kind of Lenten Journey than we planned, let us help each other remember that! In God’s Love and Care, Pastor Ned
