#MLKDay is 1 week away! The Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday on Monday, January 18, 2021, marks the 26th anniversary of the day of service to celebrate the Civil Rights leader’s life. MLK Day is intended to empower individuals, strengthen communities, bridge barriers, create solutions to social problems, and move us closer to Dr. King's vision of a "Beloved Community." Pledge to serve in his honor not only on MLK Day, but throughout the year! No matter how you give back - big... or small you are making a difference! Although we cannot come together for the traditional Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service in-person next week, we invite all Broncos to participate virtually to learn how you can continue Dr. King's legacy. Check out the CCE's MLK Day of Service 2021 in-home experience: bit.ly/MLKDay-CCE #LearnByDoingGood

"I was shocked and saddened to see the U.S. Capitol under siege today. This horrendous scene was an attack on our most fundamental values as a nation. Today may... cause us to doubt the ties that bind us as a nation. I plead with you to not despair. We can overcome even the most bitter division." -University President Soraya M. Coley Read her complete statement about today's events in Washington D.C. here: https://www.cpp.edu///hold-fast-to-our-shared-ideals.shtml

It's not too late to get involved with CPP's Common Read! The Moth Presents: Occasional Magic is this year's Common Read book. Inside you'll discover true 'moth...' stories about finding strength to face the impossible. There are a couple of ways to get involved: 1 Listen to the stories in the book! Visit https://www.cpp.edu/studentsucce//common-read-events.shtml for a curated list of links to the Moth website. 2 Submit to our essay contest! Write your own Moth story, a true personal story about finding the courage to face the impossible and make your world better. Find the prompt and submit by November 6 at https://www.cpp.edu/studentsucce//common-read-events.shtml. 3 Participate in the Learn Through Discovery Challenge with CPP A.I.! With a team, identify a social justice issue from the book and develop a creative and innovative solution that addresses the issue that can be implemented or launched. Find the prompt and submit by November 6 at https://www.cpp.edu/studentsucce//common-read-events.shtml. 4 Share your Moth story! The current social context of a global pandemic and the continued fight against racial injustices challenges us to recognize the "Occasional Magic" of this moment. Think about the most important and impactful moments during your time at CPP, and tell your Moth story using the free platform Microsoft Sway. Swipe through for more details and check https://www.cpp.edu/studentsucce//common-read-events.shtml to get started. DM us if you have any questions! #CalPolyPomona
