Meet Courtney Q. -one of our original rockstars and inspirational stories! A few years ago, Courtney came to us ready to make major transformations in her life; both physically and mentally. She dove in headfirst with our Melt-Down program, broke through plateaus, and created massive goals left and right!... According to Courtney, despite making tremendous changes in her physical health, her biggest achievement was learning to love herself. She has learned that when she does, she loves others and the world so much more too! In addition to the Melt-Down program, Courtney also invested in her mental wellbeing, immersing herself in our stress management and women’s coaching programs. We can't tell you how many people have come to us with weight-loss goals, and told us, "I don't need coaching ... I already know what to do. I just need to do it." Well, knowing what to do and not doing it is the same as not knowing what to do. You know why? It yields the same result: little or no progress, frustration, disappointment, and a feeling of, "I'm not good enough to have the body and health that I deserve." Here are a few tips for assembling the support network you... need in order to be happier and healthier: - Involve your family members and close friends: If you honestly share your goals, your reason why ("I want to be healthy for my kids and set a better example ...") and the steps you're taking to achieve them with those closest to you, they'll be more likely to lend a hand. Who knows? They might be so inspired that they'll join you in your fitness and nutrition program. - Seek out a qualified coach: A successful coach or trainer should have a track record of getting sustainable results with clients like you, and should be able to easily identify a few steps and actions at a time that you can begin taking to move closer to your goal. - Be part of something: This could be a religious institution, a community group, a charity, or a fitness studio. They all have something in common: Like-minded people working together and supporting each other in the pursuit of similar goals. - Celebrate small victories: Something that may seem insignificant at the time -- losing those first two pounds, getting your first chin-up, or learning how to execute a deadlift with proper form -- are actually part of something massively important. These "small" things are the building blocks of real, lasting, life-changing transformation. Celebrate them. Eat more fish, including a portion of oily fish! Fish is a good source of protein and contains many vitamins and minerals. Aim to eat at least 2 portions of fish weekly, including at least 1 portion of oily fish.... Oily fish is high in omega-3 fats, which may help prevent heart disease. Is this you every morning before your coffee?! You are not alone! Client A - Z’s stories, though different in the details, have the same underlining struggles: You finish your stressful day, eat a dinner, watch your favorite show, and by the time you are ready for bed you are not tired. So you take melatonin, or a sleeping pill. Because obviously you need adequate rest in order to have the energy needed to be successful at your job or lives each day.... Morning comes around and you are very tired. You can barely get out of bed because of the sleeping aids you took, or from the lack of sleep you had in general. So, you bee line to the kitchen or your nearest coffee shop to pump yourself full of caffeine to WAKE UP. What you’ve done is put yourself in an energy hole from the night before, and the only way to get out of it is to take an upper. One cup does the trick sometimes but other days you just need two. Or three. Or four And this pattern continues without you stepping back to look at the root cause of everything. Where is your imbalance coming from? Why aren’t you sleeping well? Why are you drained in the morning? Lack ofsleepmakes you less mentally aware and more fatigued and causes you toeatmore (consume more calories). And in doing so leaves you with less energy to workout, perform your daily tasks at a high level, and exercise without the same intensity you normally would. Ultimately leading to weight gain.
