A special thanks to our very own Alfonso Alvarez for organizing and leading TREE Academy's first Sustainable World Festival Day. Last Friday our community was treated to inspiring talks from Nalleli Cobo, a prominent student activist, Cory Burns from World Harvest, Michael Martinez from LA Composts, Sherri Vinton from Slow Food, Elizabeth Espinoza and Amanda Mejia from Athens Services (Recycling), Melisa Aguayo from 5 Gyres Institute and Gilbert Salazar from CCES. Students pa...rticipated in games and visited various booths to learn more about what we as a school community can do to support a cleaner, more sustainable world, both locally and globally. Thank you to all of our speakers, faculty, Team TREE, and to everyone else who made this inaugural festival day possible. It was a joyful beginning to what we hope and intend will be a defining part of our school culture and community involvement in the years to come!
