As promised, here's the latest update for our annual Cookie Drop! Since 2004, Operation Cookie Drop has brought Holiday Cheer to our dorm residents. Here at Tr...avis AFB, we can house approximately 1200 dorm residents. These residents are single airmen who are new to the military and for many of these young airman, this is their first holiday season away from home. COVID-19 has given us the opportunity to revamp the program with safety measures in mind while still providing a token of appreciation to our young airmen. This year, instead of providing a dozen cookies, we are building gift bags for each dorm resident. Every bag will include: $5 gift card to the Base Exchange, prepackaged sugar cookie, package of hot cocoa & candy cane, holiday card, a mug, and most important, a message of support from our community members! Click the link below to sponsor our airmen. You can help us reach our goal of providing a gift to all of our Travis Air Force Base dorm residents by donating, sharing the link or volunteering to help us build the gift bags on Wednesday, December 2nd. Each sponsorship is $8 and your gift is tax deductible. Thank you for supporting our amazing airmen!!! https://www.travisspousesclub.com/pr/operation-cookie-drop/

Chief Master Sgt. JoAnne S. Bass formally took the reins as the 19th Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force during a transition ceremony earlier this morning. B...ass is the first woman and the first person of Asian-American descent to become the service’s highest-ranking enlisted member. In the service-wide search for CMSAF 19, Bass was chosen from a group of more than a dozen candidates, officials said. The finalists were selected based on breadth of experience, recommendations from senior commanders and performance across each candidate’s Air Force career. Prior to becoming CMSAF, Bass served as command chief master sergeant, Second Air Force, at Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi. In that assignment, Bass was the senior enlisted leader and advisor to the commander on all matters relating to the professional development, proper utilization, and the readiness of the enlisted corps.
