It is with immense shock, sadness and disbelief that we have to say goodbye to one of our first students, Kathy Stulgis....Kathy discovered the flying trapeze when we were teaching classes in Belmont, in the late 90's, near her home.... circus changed her life and having her as a dedicated and loyal student changed ours.... we will miss her tremendously, she will never be forgotten.

The love and dedication our staff have for teaching circus arts to our students is a core value! Meet Tracy... Before discovering circus arts, Tracy was a gymnast and coached gymnastics for fifteen years. She then transitioned to modern dance, working with several Bay Area dance companies, including John Butterfield's New Urban Dance Company. ... Tracy started her aerial pursuits on the flying trapeze in 2004 here at Trapeze Arts. Her initial purpose was to deal with her fear of heights but she quickly developed a passion for circus arts. After several years on the flying trapeze, Tracy began training on static trapeze, single point trapeze, and aerial fabric. Tracy has performed all over the Bay Area and began teaching for Trapeze Arts in August of 2012, specializing in aerial fabric. For Tracy, aerial fabric marries both the grace of dance and the power of gymnastics. She has trained under world-class instructors including Rain Wilson, TT Robson, Womack and Bowman, and Sarah Romanowsky. She specializes in fabric because she says "it's the apparatus that makes me feel like I'm dancing through the air." Tracy loves sharing this enthusiasm with her students. She teaches our intermediate/advanced skills class! Cisco was born in Virginia where he started taking preschool gymnastics at the age of four. Raised in the Bay Area, he trained with a competitive gymnastics team in Richmond and started his coaching career at age 14. By 18, he was the Head Coach of a small Men's Program. ... Cisco has 27 years of coaching preschool students and adults, through optional levels of the Junior Olympic programs. He has also been Head Coach of Men's and Women's Compulsory Teams, Head Coach of a Trampoline and Tumbling program and a Recreational Program Manager. With all of Cisco’s accomplishments, he was then ready to bring his experience and excitement for trampoline to Trapeze Arts. At Trapeze Arts he teaches Trampoline and Tumbling classes along with Summer camps, private lessons and has trained as a Trapeze instructor and catcher. Cisco loves problem solving and the analytic nature of coaching as well as working with eager new students and passionate veteran athletes alike. Stephan Gaudreau, Owner, President and Artistic Director of Trapeze Arts, Inc. ... Stephan, who grew up in Montreal, is a professional flying trapeze artist who originally taught circus at Club Med. After teaching for 6 years, he decided to pursue a professional performing career. He was hired as the lead flyer with the Flying Angels Troupe at Circus Circus Hotel in Reno, Nevada, because he is one of only a select few who have accomplished the triple somersault. He has also performed with a number of other flying trapeze acts in the United States and around the world. Stephan’s passion and love for teaching was the motivation to start his own circus school. In 1994, Trapeze Arts was born! Under Stephan’s artistic directorship, Trapeze Arts has been teaching flying trapeze and other circus arts to adults and children for 25+ years! 20 YEARS!!! WOW... Last year at this time we were talking about the grand celebration we would have to have this year to mark the occasion! A lot has changed between then and now and there can't be any grand celebrations....But, what has never changed, is the special place that Trapeze Arts has always been for so many people for so many years! On October 20, 2000 we taught our first class in Oakland, and if it were not for the amazing students and staff we have been so lucky... to have, we would not have reached this milestone today.... Spreading Aerial joy! Fabricated and installed this aluminum tripod Aerial frame and trapeze for one of our students.....it fits perfectly in their backyard!! And to quote the customer, "Some people get COVID dogs, we got a COVID trapeze!"
