U.S. Citizenship update from our instructor, Kathy Martin: Anyone who's had a green card (permanent resident card) for 5 years or more - it’s time to apply for U.S. Citizenship ASAP. The US Department of Homeland Security announced that on October 2, 2020, the cost to apply will jump by more than $500. The price to apply for naturalization is now $640 + $85 biometric fee = $725. Some families may qualify for a fee waiver (based on income.)... In just 3 weeks-the price for naturalization will jump to $1,170 +$85 biometric fee = $1255 or $1,160 = $85 biometric fee =$ 1245 for online applications. Beaumont Adult School is offering free US Citizenship Online Courses in both English and Spanish. (You must be over 55 and have 15 years permanent residence to test in your first language.) In the class, I will help you fill out the N 400 Application, learn the 100 History Questions, and practice the English reading and writing portions. To register for this class, go to website at https://bas.beaumontusd.us/. I have taught this course since 2005. In that time, more than 600 people have become U.S. Citizens, and I am proud of them all. Kathleen Martin
