For white ally family (share this post): What is your lane? Some of us stand on frontlines and use put our bodies between the police and our black and brown f...amily. Some of us shift narratives by using our platforms. Some of us study law to defend our family. Some of us donate money so our family has what they need. Some of us make food. Some of us burn sage and say prayers. Some of us write songs and poems and speak on mics. Some of us show up in cars to make sure our family gets home safe from protests. Some of us call our elected officials and law enforcement offices demanding change. Some of us register people to vote. Some of us collect and deliver supplies. Some of us organize events and fundraisers. Some of us make masks and protective gear. Some of us troll racist comment sections and keep #BlackLivesMatter lit. Some of us put our jobs on the line to commandeer our company platform to support. Some of us call our family on the frontline to listen and check on their mental health. Some of us start community support groups. Some of us teach workshops. Some of us make signs and posters and paint walls. Some of us spread joy by doing little things like bringing organizers cookies or coffee or sending encouraging notes to our leaders so they know how tight they are held. Some of us film and document and stream to tell the truth about what’s going on. Some of us patrol for instigators, informants, plants, and white supremacists that would harm our black and brown family and deal with them accordingly. Some of us have relationships with city leaders and political influencers and create dialogue. ALL of us need to be talking to our white family and working to convert paste people to peach people. Learn about redlining and racist economic policies. Learn what microaggressions are. Read The History of White People and learn when and why you became white (spoiler: it was to oppress people of color). If you feel like you don’t know enough to speak out and you don’t wanna say the wrong thing start here: Black Lives Matter. Say it over and over again so all your white friends hear you and so your black family knows that you truly stand with them. If you get stuck from there hit me, I’m here to help. The louder WE get for our black family the sooner they, and we, will truly be free. If you know your lane but you don’t know how to get into it, holler at me. All my friends are superheroes.
