Folks, for anyone that may have knew him long time Citrus Belt Bowler John Stark recently passed away. He used to live near me in Woodcrest for years and bowled at different places over time notably at Pinky's / Cadillac Bowl in Moreno Valley and Empire Bowl in Redlands. He is survived by his wife Luana and his children. RIP John and thank you for the memories!

When I grew up in Riverside in the 1970's what we call Town Square Lanes was called "BCR" or "Bowling Center of Riverside" It had 60 AMF Lanes with AMF 82/35 Pinsetters. Active West must have went to a great expense to replace all 60 of these pinsetters, ball returns, foul lights etc. with Brunswick A2's and Star Shield Masking Units. The local Sherman Indian High School Bowling Team bowled at BCR in the early 1970's and here are some pictures from 50 years ago of what the low end of the bowling center looked like back then.

How many of you used to play pinball at Town Square Lanes? I remember reading back in the day in the Press Enterprise about someone going for the Guinness Book of World Records of Pinball at Town Square Lanes. Typically, the games would be placed on either side of the control desk. My wife and I used to play this one that was near the desk probably behind approximately the lanes in the high 30's. Gottlieb Devil's Dare from 1982 - Great Artwork and graphics!
