Student Spotlight Nisebho Fantaye, Class of 2023 Say hello to PA-S1 Nisebho Fantaye! ... Nisebho is a first-generation Ethiopian-American and was born and raised in Ethiopia and immigrated to the U.S. with his family in 2009. He attended the University of California (UC) San Diego for undergrad and earned his Bachelors in Biochemistry and Cell Biology. During undergrad, Nisebho was involved in several projects one of which was being a board member of the African Student Association which aimed to unify and create a fostering environment for African communities through service, educational and social events. Prior to attending PA school, Nisebho interned in a hospital where he first got introduced to the PA career. Through shadowing and working alongside PAs, he fell in love with the career and knew it was the right fit for him. Clinically, Nisebho worked as an EMT for a little over a year and later as an ER tech providing emergent care. Coming from an underrepresented community, Nisebho was naturally attracted to Touro’s mission of serving the underserved and learning from a social justice lens. He hopes to utilize these skills both in PA education and MPH to become a change-maker in his community and beyond. He plans to demonstrate these skills with his recent induction as diversity coordinator at the student-run free clinic where he aims to support various programs that promote health equity and community partnership in the city of Vallejo. When Nisebho is not busy with school, he enjoys watching a good show, walking his dog, and hiking with his wife!
