Well... today just happened to be one of those days. I feel like I spent half my day thread picking and seam ripping. Between embroidery bobbin thread snafus, serger mishaps, and my cover stitch machine skipping stitches like it was playing hop scotch, it felt like so much of today was wasted. Mmmm... BEST roasted pumpkin seeds I’ve ever made! I saved the seeds from last night’s pumpkin carving and boy these are not going to last the day! . Wash the gunk off your seeds seeds in a colander in warm water and pat dry. Preheat the oven to 300 degrees (F). Put the seeds in a bowl and mix in a couple tablespoons of melted (or if you’re being healthier, olive or avocado oil) plus your favorite seasonings (I went with good ol’ fashioned salt and pepper - think cinnamon... & sugar, chili & lime, dill & garlic, etc...) amount will depend on how many seeds you have, maybe a teaspoon or so of seasoning per cup of seeds... Spread seeds out on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and pop in the oven for about 30 minutes or until golden brown - stirring every 10 minutes. And enjoy! I am so grateful for the little reminders of how far we’ve come in the last 2 years. I just had a memory pop up where I celebrated 100 Sales in my Etsy shop. Today, I have more than 2500. While I’ve moved to my own website, I’ve maintained my Etsy shop and love making new connections there. But I never dreamed I’d be where I am today. Instead of buying 2 yards of a pattern for scarves, I’m having 2000 yards of my own fabric woven exclusively for me. Instead of carrying 10 patterns in stock, I have over 100. Instead of scraping by at my hobby, I run my own full business and gift shop. Feeling nostalgic as this memory just popped up on my FB. 7 years ago -TODAY- I made my first flannel plaid infinity scarf I still have the green/blue one since I packed it with us when we evacuated 2 years ago. I call it ‘the scarf that started it all.’ NEVER in a MILLION YEARS did I EVER think I would be running a full fledged business with my own website and gift shop built on these beauties! Ever since I was a kid I always had an entrepreneurial spirit. I was constantly... dreaming up something I could make and sell, or jobs I could do to make money. Macrame, keychains, beading, crochet, jelly, lawn mowing, you name it! Not to mention the plethora of embarrassing business names I’ve gone though. LOL. Then I finally found MY thing! While in some regards it took losing everything (in the Camp Fire) to really launch my business, I’m still blown away how God has blessed us and how far it has come. It really is a dream come true. All that to say, if you are pursuing a dream, keep going! Never give up! And don’t be discouraged when you don’t find immediate success. This has taken me 7 years and I feel like I’ve only just gotten off the ground. Find your niche and run with it. Happy October 21st everyone! It’s been a Monday. Who can relate?!
