Our New Mask Policy as of June 15th: MASKS OPTIONAL (You are still required to follow the law whatever it may be today! We will no longer be paying our staff to participate in the enforcement of these ever-changing rules.)... -- Beginning June 15, 2021, vaccinated people are allowed to go without masks most places, including our store. Due to the exceptionally confusing, conflicting & ever-changing nature of government guidelines, we are taking the following stance for legal reasons: Walking through our door WITHOUT A MASK counts as Self-Attestation that YOU'RE VACCINATED If you voluntarily choose to tell us that you are un-vaccinated (don't worry, we will NOT ask!) you will have to leave the store or put a mask on. Technically, since children cannot be vaccinated, they may still be legally required to wear masks. We aren't lawyers, but it sure looks like teens & adults can just say the magic words I'm vaccinated (no proof needed, some people will choose to lie) to get out of a mask requirement, while those magic words don't work for kids. We find the idea of enforcing a mask policy ONLY against children unfair & cruel, and WILL NOT be doing so. Accommodations for Immunocompromised People: Are you or your child extremely high-risk for Covid-19 or other respiratory illness? Do you want to be extremely careful & only shop around other masked people? We will work with you to schedule a day where we open early or stay late & mask up to keep you safe! Today (11/28/20) the Santa Clara County Department of Health issued a revised, stricter Directive on Capacity Limitations (effective 11/30/20) to 10% of regular capacity for all retail & personal services (except pharmacy & grocery, who are subject to 25% capacity). This is for the safety of our community, and we hope that all businesses large & small will adhere to these new guidelines. Thankfully here at Thinker Toys we have been diligently sticking to low capacity limits ...the entire pandemic. We will take time to read the new directive and reduce our current capacity (10) inside the store at a time if needed (currently waiting for the county's web calculator to update). We are also pleased to run an industrial air filter inside the center of the store (its the big black & orange box) as well as 2 smaller UV air filters behind the counter where employees might end up in close proximity. We require masks of all people ages 3+ inside our store, and require masks to cover both nostrils and mouth. We offer outdoor service to those who cannot wear a mask for medical reasons. Sanitizer is readily available to all staff & customers and its use is proactively encouraged. Commonly touched surfaces are disinfected regularly, and pens between each customer. None of these precautions are new, we have been stringently adhering to these protocols for months.
