Join us on Thursday, August 3 at 12 PM for an action in solidarity with immigrant communities as we demand that Sheriff McDonell stop lobbying against passage of SB54 (the sanctuary state law) and that the LASD stop all cooperation with ICE in tearing families apart as they round up our undocumented sisters and brothers who have lived and worked in the USA for decades. As Angelenos and people of faith, we cannot remain silent in the face of these actions. Bend the Arc: A Jewi...sh Partnership for Justice, CLUE: Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice, the Task Force on Sanctuary, Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, LA Voice PICO, National Day Laborer Organizing Network, NCJW Los Angeles, Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles, ICUJP, IKAR, Muslim Public Affairs Council - MPAC, Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights, the Jewish Center for Justice, UFCW770, and Peace and Justice Advocates - Fuller Theological Seminary are putting our bodies and voices in front of ICE on August 3rd in DTLA to say: "This injustice will not stand in Los Angeles!" Fr. Michael Lapsley, the founder of the Institute for Healing of Memories, is doing a talk today at Fuller Theological Seminary at 2PM in Travis Auditorium. Fr. Lapsley is an Anglican priest, originally from New Zealand, who came to South Africa in 1993 where he worked against apartheid with the African National Congress (ANC). He lost both hands and an eye from a letter bomb sent in response to his social justice work. His healing of memories work was inspired by his persona...l journey of learning to redeem the past by celebrating that which is life giving and laying to rest that which is destructive. Lapsley's experience and the experiences of those living in post-apartheid South Africa is a reminder that respectful listening, reconciliation, peace building, and restorative justice is essential in the emotional & spiritual healing journey of individuals, communities and nations.

Join Peace and Justice Advocates - Fuller Theological Seminary as we protest LA County Sheriff Jim McDonnell for going against the CA Values Act! SB54 - known as the VALUES ACT - is a California state bill that essentially puts a big, beautiful wall between local police and Trump’s deportation machine. Please join us as we tell Sheriff McDonnell to stand up for SB54 and to stand with immigrant families! #SanctuaryState #CAValues #ICEoutofCA
