This First Friday, June 4th, come join us 5-7pm on zoom, in a rare inside view of a spectacular artist: Ed Terpening Buenaventura Art Association (BAA) brings this series (hosted by yours truly Michelle Nosco) to artists and appreciators alike. Members, non-members and future members (this could be YOU!). All are welcome. No matter your skill level you will learn something of value. Please join us, it's free. Bring your own materials and paint-along if you're interested. ...Painting Demonstration with an Emphasis on COLOR & COMPOSITION. Short Description: Ed will paint a landscape from a screen-projected reference photo in his Ventura studio. He will share his studio setup, including his oil color palette and other key materials. His demo will focus on design and color. For design, Ed will share how he first divides the canvas into an interesting pattern of shapes--choosing where to combine shapes or invent new ones in the service of an interesting design. Known for his color, he will share his approach to color harmony. Questions are welcome and encouraged throughout the demo, and he'll try to ensure there's time at the end for additional questions. Ed Terpening Artist Bio Ed Terpening paints in oil and watercolor. His art has been recognized by many publications, including a cover story in American Artist, the largest art magazine in the United States. He has won numerous awards, particularly for his plein air work. He has participated in more than 80 exhibitions. He is on the artist’s advisory board of PleinAir Magazine, the leading outdoor painting publication as well as the Buenaventura Artists Association. His art is in prestigeous collections, including the Forbes family, the County of San Mateo and the Australian Consulate in San Francisco. Today, he can often be found roaming either of his hometowns of Ventura and San Francisco, sketching the people and places of these beautiful cities. Wishing everyone peace and love this summer!

WAV 03.08.2020

Peace, in the sense of the absence of war, is of little value to someone who is dying of hunger or cold. It will not remove the pain of torture inflicted on a prisoner of conscience. It does not comfort those who have lost their loved ones in floods caused by senseless deforestation in a neighboring country. Peace can only last where human rights are respected, where the people are fed, and where individuals and nations are free. ~Dalai Lama XIV Art by eQuivalent

Taking a moment to express gratitude for these three trees. I’m feel blessed to have been able to live here soloing with them. They were loved by many WAV residents and neighbors for years, until removed this week. The City approved this project with new block development plan of widening the road. Looking forward to the 50 trees the developers will be including in the block.
