Today and Tuesday will be the last meal service of the 20/21 school year. Thank you all for allowing us to be part of your family for the last year. We look forward to seeing you all again next year, or in summer school :), have a great summer! As a reminder, all VESD schools and offices will be closed on Monday, May 31 in observance of Memorial Day.

VESD is excited to announce that summer school will be in-person, on-campus, beginning June 14th! The program is open to all students that are currently in grades TK-5th. Our summer school will consist of three two-week sessions. Students will attend class Monday - Friday, four hours per day. The program will provide students with expanded academic opportunities and exciting activities such as the arts, poetry, animatronics, and coding! Good Morning VESD fam! School is back in session on zoom tomorrow morning as today is a professional development day for our staff. Our nutrition services team resumes meal service tomorrow from 11AM-1PM at all 18 schools. In addition to the regular bagged meals, we'll be serving hot lunches! Please note the new time for Tuesdays (11AM - 1PM.) We hope you all had a restful and safe winter break!

Our next meal service will take place on Tuesday, January 5th, from 11AM - 1PM (new hours). All kids ages 3-18 are eligible for a free meal bag with five days worth of breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Hello all. We are back serving meals today, from 2pm-4pm, at all 18 VESD schools. Our nutrition services team is providing meals for all children between the ages of 3 -18. Here is our menu for today's service. We'll be publishing another menu for Friday and next Tuesday later this week. Today is the last day of meal service before October Break. All children ages 3-18 are eligible for free meals today, from 11am - 2pm at all 18 VESD Schools. There will be no meal service next week, October 12-16, due to October Break. We will resume meal service on Tuesday, October 20, from 2pm - 4pm.

New meal service hours begin today. Free meals for all kids ages 3-18 from 2pm - 4pm at all 18 VESD schools! Also, there is no meal service next week, October 12-16, due to October Break. But we'll be open an extra this Friday to make sure everyone can get their meals for next week. Friday's hours are 11am - 2pm.

VESD will now begin serving in the afternoon on Tuesdays, from 2PM-4PM. Please note there will be NO MEAL SERVICE during October break, Oct 12-16, but we will serve an additional hour on Friday, October 9, 11AM - 2PM. Today, we received word that one of our former substitute teachers, Steven Abreo, was arrested for possession of child pornography. Per the Sheriff’s press release, investigators have not found any evidence that Mr. Abreo had inappropriate photographs of students or had inappropriate contact with students he was in the presence of. However, we are working diligently with the sheriff’s department to help ensure a thorough investigation. Mr. Abreo has not worked at VESD school...s since March 11, 2020 and has been removed from our substitute teacher pool. Special thanks to @SEBA for their generous donation to Del Rey teachers. We were honored to have several deputies visit our campus along with SEBA president, Sgt. Grant Ward, to deliver eight $250 gift cards as part of the SEBA Back to School Shop With a Cop - Teacher Edition. These donations will go a long way to ensure kids have the tools and supplies to become successful. Thank you, SEBA and Sgt. Ward, for your generous donation and also for your service to our community and our kids!

VESD meal service is today from 11AM-1PM at all 18 school sites. Meals are available for ALL CHILDREN ages 3-18. Non-VESD kids will be given meal cards at their first meal pick up at their school of choice. Meal/ID cards are scanned at each meal distribution so we can accurately plan for weekly meal counts. All VESD schools, offices, and distance learning will be closed on Monday, September 7th in honor of Labor Day. All sites and instruction will resume with regular hours on Tuesday, the 8th. Thank you and enjoy your three day weekend.

We are happy to announce that VESD Nutrition Services will be resuming community meal services on Tuesday, September 8, 2020. This means that ALL CHILDREN between the ages of 3-18, not just VESD students, are eligible to receive five days worth of meals every week. The community feeding service is part of a program through the USDA that will last until the end of this calendar year. VESD families will still need to present their student ID’s and pick up meals at their own sc...hool site unless arrangements are made in advance with our Nutrition Services department at 760-245-5221. All non-VESD children will be issued a card with their food bags that must be presented at each meal pick-up. Meal service is limited to one bag per seven-day period. Please follow all appropriate precautions against COVID-19 when on VESD campuses, including wearing face coverings, practicing social distancing, and remaining inside your vehicle. Community meal service hours are Fri & Tue from 11AM-1PM at all 18 VESD schools.
