These Primrose are pretty enough to eat... wait, you can?! Primula vulgaris (pictured) makes a colorful garnish to salads, or the perfect cake topper. You can even crystallize them in sugar or freeze them in ice to take your drinks to the next level. Come see them blooming in the central garden and take some home at the gift shop

Spend some time with your snugglebug on our sweetheart bench! We think the gardens are a great date spot, but does Julius? He was less than thrilled to model for us today
Believe it or not, these red inflorescences are groups of tiny orchid flowers! Dendrochilum wenzelii is native to the Philippines, and is sometimes referred to as a grass orchid. The orchid family is the second largest plant family. With over 28,000 species, and species native to every continent except Antarctica, it’s easy to see why the orchid family is so diverse!
We’re super excited to participate in the #Wreathmasters competition hosted by the @californianativeplantsociety! Along with other botanical gardens, nurseries, and plant organizations, we created some holiday wreaths made out of 100% native Californian plants. The final competition will be hosted live this Friday (12/18) from 6pm to 8pm by @californianativeplantsociety as celebrity judges @bloomandplume, @eothen_ , and @cultivating_place determine the winners. COVID-19 Updates: We are able to remain open to the public, and are in accordance with California and Orange County health ordinances. Hooray! However, we require the cooperation of our visitors to help us ensure the safety of our staff and community: Masks or face coverings must be worn at all times over the nose and mouth. Physical distancing of at least 6ft between yourself and others, unless you are members of the same household.... Please DO NOT visit if you are feeling ill, or have been in contact with someone ill. No food or drinks can be consumed on the property. Cafe Jardin will be closed for dining, but open for takeout and fresh groceries. Our wish is that the gardens remain a peaceful horticultural oasis for the community, and we can only do that with your cooperation. We look forward to your visit! Also, aren’t these bromeliads looking festive?
Hey. It’s about time we told you. Disco InFERNo will be back for Nights of 1000 Lights! (It’s in the Fern Grotto, can you tell our horticulture staff loves puns?) Tickets for the event with reduced capacity and safety protocols for Covid are still available through our website.

Lush leaves and sweet fruit...it’s a dwarf cavendish. This banana plant produces bunches of flavorful, slightly thick-peeled bananas.
