Thank you to all of you who are doing the responsible thing and wearing face masks the entire time you’re in The Rose Ballroom. Please remember, dancers are allowed to remove masks to address basic biological necessities like drinking or if they are suddenly short of breath and feel a need for more air, but they should replace their masks as soon as possible if they need to remove it. Having to radar for people not wearing masks is exhausting and may hurt our studio by encouraging people to stay away. Our reservation system ensures you have extra room to dance and stay socially distanced, but we still need you to keep your masks on so we can all enjoy the ballroom and hopefully keep it alive.

Reminder to our dear teachers and students who are coming into the studio. Masks should cover your mouth AND nose at all times. Thank you!

We are again asking our dear community to help The Rose Ballroom survive the enormous financial setbacks of COVID-19. As you all know, our studio was closed for almost 4 months. While we have recently begun to reopen, we are generating only a tiny fraction of our fixed operating costs due to rigorous county restrictions and understandable community caution around dancing. And with the virus situation remaining fluid, we are continually vulnerable to possible reclosure. Althou...gh Santa Clara County’s eviction moratorium gave us some temporary breathing room by effectively deferring our rent obligation for several months, it still requires that back-rent to be repaid eventuallyon top of our ongoing rent. In other words, once the moratorium expires, we will owe *even more* per month than we did pre-pandemic. Our landlord has not yet offered any better terms. And though we filled out numerous applications for aid, unfortunately, we were unable to obtain any grants or federal PPP relief for our studio. We are extremely grateful to everyone who donated in our first round of fundraising. We were truly humbled by your generosity. We are initiating a second round of fundraising because: Combining our first round of fundraising and our savings, we can cover two months of rent. That’s two out of the four months from our COVID-19 closure that we need to repay. Since reopening, we’re still operating at a huge loss. We’re currently earning less than 10% of our rent alone, meaning our total debt continues to grow by thousands of dollars every week. Many Bay Area dance professionals rely on The Rose Ballroom to earn their livelihood. We want to stay afloat for them tooso they have a studio to return to, a place to teach and practice, when this is finally over. We understand many of you are also struggling, but if you do have the means to help out, please consider donating (or donating again). Any amount, however big or small, helps and will be genuinely appreciated. After all, there can be no ballroom dancing without ballrooms. Thank you!
