In the words of Kenny Rogers, Know when to fold them, and know when to hold them. Responsible rescue work means getting to know animals in your care and setting them up for safe, successful adoptions. Blue Water and Bly were part of a litter of 12 dogs #TheRescueTrain saved. We noticed some unwanted behavior in them that could have escalated if they were adopted to an inexperienced home. We kept them in foster care, worked with our trainer and also took them through six weeks of a group class for socialization. Our hard work has paid off! Thank you Kim Rhinehardt and J9's - K9's for helping make our dogs more adoptable and helping new owners take the reins. #weresavingapetforyou

Player was pulled from the Pasadena Humane Society and fostered by our superstar volunteers, Molly & Greg. He was diagnosed with a high-grade heart murmur, so we visited the amazing cardiologist, Dr. Cole. Player needed a that would care for a special needs dog. Former Rescue Train adopters, Daysun & Allison, reached out to us seeking a BFF for their dog, Lucy, who was also on heart meds and a patient of Dr. Cole. It just seemed this was meant to be, so they brought Player home and we know he couldn't be in better hands. #weresavingapetforyou

Who doesn't like a little Sesame with a touch of Wasabi on the side? These two super sweet, bonded brothers were the last of #TheRescueTrain's culinary kitten litter. Even though a pair often takes longer to be adopted, it's always worth the wait. Sesame and Wasabi were adopted together by a compassionate adopter who's permanently working from home and has a cheerful understanding of their personalities (and their silly litter-digging championship messes!) Thank you, Avery, for spicing up your life and opening your and home! #weresavingapetforyou

#HappyTail: #TheRescueTrain saved a litter of 12 puppies and their mother from an Indian Reservation in Arizona . An animal angel transported mom and her five-week-old babies to Los Angeles. We kept the family together and safe until the puppies were 10 weeks old to ensure proper socialization and also to prevent behavioral problems due to being separated from her too soon. Kimba is very unique because her ears have always pointed straight up. Some of the puppies would have ...one ear up and one ear down or both their ears would stick up one day and be down the next. She was adopted by Sayard, who lives with her significant other. Although they don't own any other pets, Sayard actually grew up around a variety of animals and has a lot experience working with dogs but was waiting for the perfect pooch to come along to call her own. She saw Kimba online and felt an instant connection! #weresavingapetforyou See more

Andra's senior kitty had passed away at the ripe old age of 18, and her three-year-old tabby was lonesome, so she came to meet Burton...and fell for Caraway instead. She figured Caraway--now named Sergei--would be a good fit for Buddy, and she was right. They were best friends within 24 hours. #weresavingapetforyou

It’s #NationalFeralCatDay! It is estimated that over 3 million cats live on the streets of Los Angeles. In 2019, The Rescue Train started a free monthly mobile spay/neuter clinic for feral and stray cats in the greater Los Angeles Area. We have already fixed over 600 cats. Trapneuterreturn, commonly known as TNR, is a humane method of managing feral cat overpopulation. Cats are trapped (the only way to catch them), sterilized, ear-tipped for identification, vaccinated and released where they were trapped. TRN programs are a very successful method of decreasing the feral cat population. #weresavingapetforyou
