Today the Port of Hueneme welcomed the M/V Tarago, her first visit to our Port and the longest ro-ro (auto) ship to enter the Harbor at 245m/803ft in length. Port workers had an adventure last week, as reported by Harbormaster Jack: A husky decided to check out the Port during busy working hours! Our gate guard Ann did some sleuthing and discovered a "lost husky" listing... With Christian from #PortsAmerica and Harbormaster Jack pitching in, they were able to save and return the puppy to its owners, who are from Arizona and were visiting California.

Great news!! Port Customers Shine, Earning Blue Skies, Blue Whales Awards - Protecting the whales and our local air quality is not only a top priority for the Port, but also its ocean carriers. Maersk, #GLOVIS, K LINE Shipping Company, Ltd., and NYK LINE all earned recognition for participating in this voluntary program. This vessel speed reduction initiative aims to cut air pollution and protect endangered whales in the #SantaBarbara Channel and #SanFrancisco Bay through in...centivizing shipping lines to reduce speeds to 10 knots or less in these sensitive areas. Over 530 tons of smog-forming emissions were eliminated by the 15 shipping lines participating in this program this year alone, said Oxnard Harbor District President Jess Ramirez. #TBT to the very first The Port of Hueneme Banana Festival, back in 2012! We're still sorry we didn't see everyone last weekend, but we'll make up for it next year. We're bringing the bananas to our communities these days through our regular community outreach campaigns. #committedtocommunity

A Note To Our Community In honor of what would’ve been our 9th Annual Banana Festival we are honored to be continuing the same mission in committing ourselves to our community, now more than ever! Around this time annually in September we open up our Harbor and hold a celebration of our Port with our partners and our community. With COVID-19, we realized that while we could not celebrate with our community, we could still support our community during these difficult times.... Since March we have dedicated over 35 Community Food Drives to provide food, produce, and resources to our Farm Working families in Ventura County! In total with our Port Partners we have donated over 300 tons of food and produce which have gone to over 24,500 local families! We can’t wait to open our harbor to you all in the near future again, until then, we stand with you and will continue in our #CommitmentToCommunity
