In the past few weeks we have seen a rise in exam requests due to our furry friends having itchy skin, hair loss, hot spots or skin irritation. More than 90% of the cases have been due to FDA (Flea Allergy Dermatitis) causing the pet to chew/lick or scratch the skin raw and creating skin infections. All it takes is 1 flea to bite your pet and cause a possible reaction. We highly recommend topical or oral flea prevention especially during the summer months when we see a high ...rise in FDA cases. We have over the counter topical flea preventative where a general health exam is not required OR oral flea preventative which requires a yearly general health exam.
