What a ride 2020 has been! This year has brought so many different emotions and experiences, as well as impacted so many on various levels. Who would have thought that we would be experiencing a global pandemic amongst other things? Thankfully we continue to have the love and support of our community and the families we've served. The Open Arms House is excited to announce that we will once again be ready to serve our community and welcome new residents beginning Monday, June 22. We will continue to follow the recommended COVID-19 guidelines established from the CDC and CA State Licensing for a licensed care facility in order to ensure the safety and well being of our residents and staff. In addition, we will be kicking off our 3rd Annual Bloomin’ Pinwheel Fundraiser and extending it through the summ...er months. It’s a wonderful opportunity to honor a loved one or recognize an individual who’s making a difference in our community all while supporting a wonderful cause. Dear TOAH Family & Friends, A few weeks ago for the safety of the residents, staff, and families, the Board of Directors of the Ruth Wood Open Arms House made the difficult decision to begin taking steps to restrict entry to our home and halt the admission process for new residents, in order to protect our staff and the existing residents we had during the initial COVID-19 outbreak. During this time, we began limiting access to only the hospice nurses and only for essential ...medical needs in order to lower our exposure risks. Unfortunately, this outbreak came at a very critical time when our home was almost at full capacity and the busiest, we have ever been. We worked very closely with our hospice agencies to ensure that we continued to provide quality care to our residents and communicated with their families. However, with the increase of cases in our community and based on the guidelines from the CDC and CA State Licensing we made the ultimate and ethical decision to close our home temporarily in order to avoid any potential outbreak from this virus. Just like many other businesses we currently do not have a timeline for reopening our doors. We are monitoring new testing developments, vaccines, and recommendations from local and national health agencies. We will reopen our doors as soon as it is safe to do so. We are so grateful and humbled by the tremendous outpouring of support from the community that has been shown to The Open Arms House during this time. You have offered kind words that filled our hearts, monetary donations, and essential supplies that kept our staff and residents prepared, fed, and most importantly safe. We will continue to update our community and donors as things develop.
