December is National Aids Awareness Month. Why is this important? It reminds us to get tested. Getting tested regularly is important. Take some time during AIDS Awareness Month to go get tested and know your status. History is important. Although no longer a death sentence, AIDS was, for years, a terrifying global pandemic that devastated communities and families. There are many misconceptions. Many people still don’t have accurate information about how HIV is tr...ansmitted, when you’re at risk, and how to prevent it. AIDS Awareness Month promotes science-based education to ensure everyone has the facts about HIV/AIDS. #AIDSAwarenessMonth

This week is International Infection Protection Week! We would like to remind everyone of the ways to prevent and fight the spread of infection especially during times like this. No matter where we are, germs exist. As we all know, they come in the form of bacteria and viruses. Preventing them from spreading an infection becomes a vital part of saving lives. Prevention is always our first line of defense when it comes to infection and hand-washing is one of the first steps to...ward prevention. We should always wash our hands: * After using the bathroom * Before and after preparing food * Before eating * After coughing, sneezing, or blowing your nose Another way to prevent infection is by getting the proper vaccinations. Vaccinations, or immunizations, prevent infections from bacteria or viruses from making us sick. In some cases, they can help us recover from an infection more quickly. Interested in learning more? October is National Physical Therapy Month! Regular physical activity is one of the most important things that you can do for your health. You don’t have to spend hours at the gym or purchase expensive equipment to meet the recommended physical activity guidelines. What’s important is to find leisure-time physical activities that you enjoy and do them regularly. If pain or a condition limits your ability to participate in activities you enjoy, or you want to reduce your risk ...for chronic diseases, enhance your fitness, and prevent injuries, consider adding a physical therapist to your health care team. Physical therapists are movement experts who improve quality of life through hands-on care, patient education, and prescribed movement.
