Barry Larkin Drill: This drill involves front toss along with a tee set up off the plate. The coach will front toss a few balls at a time staying middle in to the hitter. After every few feeds the coach fakes a toss and forces the hitter to stay back and hit the ball off the tee to opposite field. This is a great drill to develop a sense of balance for hitters of all ages. It also creates a strong front side for those who tend to pull off the ball or have trouble with off speed pitches.

Catch and Release Drill: This is a great drill for your players that have a tough time getting on top of the ball and dragging that elbow. Point of emphasis is to catch the ball at about shoulder level and avoid dropping that hand back down to throw. Make sure you get your head back on target and release out in front.

Extended tee: Too often I see coaches set up the hitting tee on the plate or lined up with the hitters front foot. This causes the hitter to cut off their swing early and come off of the ball. When doing tee or soft toss always always place the tee or feed the hitter out in front of the plate. Make them extend that barrel out in front of the zone and stay gap to gap.
