Buckle up folks....this one is not about cake. October is breast cancer awareness month. Here I am at age 38 during my first of two bouts of triple negative breast cancer. The second round, which was two years ago, while I was pregnant with Bailey, should have never happened. I was misdiagnosed in 2009 as BRCA1 negative, when I am in fact positive. The message here: Please, ladies, go get your genetic testing done. If you had it done years ago, it is ...worthless and unreliable. Get it done again. Your insurance likely won't cover it, so pay the $400 and be armed with the information can save your life. The second part of my story: Along with my hair and my breasts, cancer took away my fertility. Only because of IVF and Dr. Greg Rosen, was I able to carry my daughter. She is the result of an angel who harvested her eggs for us, and Adam's juju bees. I carried her at 48 years old, with a perfect and easy pregnancy. (Until my cancer returned). She is 100% my daughter, and with a little good fortune, we hope to be pregnant again next month via another angel, this time a surrogate, who will carry our son. Here's where I get prickly......I dont care what church you do or don't go to. I'm a live and let live kinda person. When the current hypocrites in the senate are trying to ram through a woman to sit for a lifetime on the Supreme Court who has written opinions against women's rights to their own health and their own bodies, I have to speak up. She is part of organizations against IVF, and even go as far as to say that embroyos not transferred during the IVF process that are destroyed or donated to science.......these people think that this is murder. Takes my breath away. It was about ten months after I took @jen_art 's class til I picked up a paint brush again. Just to make myself crazy, I chose to paint my dear friend @shayanhathaway 's all white dog, Cher. Fear be damned, I had a blast! I painted it two days after surgery which did more for my recovery than any medication.
